Larry Hovis
Hovis was born is Wapeto, Washington February 20, 1936. As a child, he was a singer and he later went to college at the
University of Houston. When he got older, he signed with Capital Records and actually released one album.
In 1963, he tried his hand at stand up comedy and then landed the role of Private Larry Gotschalk. In 1965, he landed
his career making role on Hogan's Heroes as Sergeant Andrew Carter, which he is best known for. He also produced a game show
in called Liar's Club after Hogan ended.In the 1990s, he taught drama at the Texas State University and sadly in
2003, he died of cancer in Austin, Texas.

Howard Caine
Born as Howard Cohen, Caine changed his name when he began getting into acting. The lovable Major Hochstetter was played
by Howard Caine who was originally from Nashville, TN. He was a talented folk singer and is best remembered for the role he
played on Hogan's Heroes. He spent a great time learning to perfect 32 different dialects, including of course, German. He
also won 29 contests for banjo and fiddle playing throughout his lifetime.

Leon Askin
Leo Aschkenasy was born on September 18, 1907 in Vienna, Austria. He emigrated in 1938 and in 1939 was taken
to French internment camp by the Nazis and after finally coming to America, he returned to Vienna in 1994. He performed
Caberet and was most widely known for his work on Hogan's Heroes as General Burkhalter. He was married 3 times throughout
his life, lastly to Anita Wichner in 2002 till his death in 2005 of natural causes. In Austria, he earned the Gold Medal of
Honor and was a very talented actor.
